NLP and TFT
What is TFT?
Thought Field Therapy [TFT] is a system that ‘taps’ into and deals with the root of a problem, be it a phobia, anger, a bad habit, anxiety, guilt or grief. These emotions get bundled into an energy called a ‘thought field’, which creates energy blockages that can lead to ill-health in mind, body and spirit. TFT aims to alleviate such blockages with almost immediate effect.
Treatment consists of tapping on certain prime acupuncture points on the body in a particular order to release the emotional blockage. The sequence may be repeated several times, or a different sequence may be instructed as the blockages begin to lift. The treatment takes a few minutes, depending on the presenting symptoms, and the client is given the sequence to do at home to consolidate the session and as a tool which can be drawn upon whenever necessary.
What is NLP?
Many of you will have heard the term NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) being bandied around the office, or cropping up in conversation at a dinner party. But what is it all about? Richard Bandler, the co-founder of NLP, was a psychology student in the 70′s. He and John Grinder studied the three principal psychotherapists of the day and from their studies produced models which can be easily implemented into everyday life to improve our psychological well-being and balance, and to enable us to uncover our inner strengths and to achieve more than we thought we were capable of.
So what does NLP mean? ‘Neuro’ refers to the fact that all behaviour stems from our neurological processes of sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch and feeling. ‘Linguistic’ indicates language, the use of language and how we communicate with others. ‘Programming’ refers to the ways in which we can choose to organise our ideas and actions to produce results.
NLP is used in areas relating to learning, business, personal goals, fears, phobias, addictions and general well-being.
